Ambassador Tanaskovic will present the latest work by the prominent Italian
documentary film woman director Elisabetta Valgiusti, Salva i monasteri del
Kosovo (English version: Saving the Kosovo Monasteries). The film, screened for
the first time at the Italian Parliament last fall, deals with the systematic
destruction of Christian culture in the southern Serbian province. Ambassador
Tanaskovic's presentation will be of interest to all those who take an active
interests in European and South East European affairs. He is an experienced
diplomat, respected academic and an internationally renowned Orientalist. His
insights on a still-unsettled part of Europe will prove invaluable to the
policy-makers, analysts and informed laymen alike. In addition to being
professor at the University of Belgrade, ambassador Tanaskovic has acted as a
Director of the Department of Oriental Studies. Ambassador Tanaskovic was a
visiting professor at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS),
in Paris. He has been a Member of the Executive Committee of the Euro-Arab
Itinerant University in Rome and was nominated a member of the Academy of
European Sciences and Arts in Salzburg. Since 2000 he has been a corresponding
member of the Society of Turkish Language (Turk Dil Kurumu) in Ankara. He is a
member of the Association of Writers of Serbia and of the Serbian
PEN.
