Announcement of the Board of Non-governmental organizations from the north
of Kosovo and the Serbian enclaves attached:

At the meeting held on 29 March, 2005, the Board of Non-governmental
organizations from the north of Kosovo and the Serbian enclaves in the south
issued the following

ANNOUNCEMENT

With regard to the brutal assault and battering of the Vucic couple from the
village of Crkolez in Istok municipality,
The Board of Non-governmental organizations from the northern Kosovo and the
Serbian enclaves in the south in this way would like to express its strong
protest and utmost dissatisfaction. We are even more devastated by the fact
that this unscrupulous assault was targeted at the two elderly people, both
of whom were in their eight decade of life.
Besides, all this happened on the day when Mr. Peterson was visiting
Belgrade, and therefore we do wonder what kind of message does it give to
the Serbian community in Kosovo, to the expelled Serbs who want to return to
Kosovo, to Kosovo Government, to UNMIK and other members of the
International Community in Kosovo.
We would like to know what kind of Standard Implementation Strategy can we
talk about here in Kosovo, when such monstrous and inhuman attacks are
happening here and the old people are the targets just because they are
Serbs?
This is yet another proof that the Serbian community in Kosovo is deprived
of one basic human right - the right to live.
