LORD ROBERTSON-SPECULATED FOR MEDIATOR IN SOLVING KOSOVO STATUS

Dailies report that according to the expert on Kosovo in ICG, John
Norris, the initiative for solving Kosovo status should be led by a
personality that enjoys the trust of all sides and full support of
Europe and America and the name which is speculated is George Robertson,
who is estimated as distinguished mediator.
Speaking about Kosovo's future status, Norris told VoA that, "if Kosovo
becomes independent as a result of the process that leads towards final
status, this would be only the beginning and not the end of the history:
the intensive supervision of the situation would follow, the
international community would be still engaged until the institutions
are developed, the Serbs' rights to return to their homes, to move
freely and to travel should be provided. For all this the presence of
the international community should be necessary."
Asked if Russia will oppose the independence of Kosovo, Norris said
that Russia has the right of veto in the Council of Europe, but the
frequent use of veto does not contribute to the solution.
