UNMIK uncovers secret burrow

KLINA - UNMIK has uncovered a burrow in the village of
Volujak, which is near Klina, where the remains of at
least 12 people have been found.

UNMIK Missing Persons Office Chief, Jose Pablo
Barajbar, said that the remains are most likely of
non-Albanians, and that experts are making slow
progress because of their inability to get to the site
because of bad weather and large amounts of rocks and
automobile parts that the bodies were buried under.

President of the Missing Persons Commission, Gvozden
Gagic, who was at the site, said that the bodies are
probably Serbian, but that nothing has been confirmed
as of yet.

"The Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the
agencies cooperating with UNMIK were not aware of this
burrow, and it is possible that this grave is from
1998, maybe even later. There are still no clear
indications that the remains are of people of Serbian
nationality, but there is a great chance that they
are, taking into consideration the circumstances and
the fact that there were found near a community
without anybody calling in such an incident." Gagic
said.

Gagic said that the entire area will be survey within
the next ten days.

"The remains will be taken to Orahovac, where our team
of experts will perform autopsies and take DNA
samples. After these analyses, we will be able to
identify the victims." Gagic said.
