Ukrainian peacekeepers in Kosovo take control over situation at Strpce,
where Albanians staging protest
Kyiv - Ukrainian peacekeepers of UkrPolBat in Kosovo are in full control of
the situation at Strpce, where rallies of Albanians took place.
On September 9, unidentified people vandalized the monument dedicated to
fallen soldiers of the Kosovo Liberation Army in Brod within the area of
responsibility of the Ukrainian-Polish peacekeeping battalion UkrPolBat of
the multinational East brigade of KFOR forces in Kosovo, the press service
of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reports.
These events stirred up local Albanian residents to hold rallies of protest
against the incident.
Albanians from the villages of Firaje and Brod were blocking the
Urosevac-Strpce highway, along which the monument was erected. Not to allow
situation aggravation, Ukrainian peacekeepers are taking steps to stabilize
the situation, the press service reports.
