Albanian war memorial destroyed

PRISTINA – A monument dedicated to fallen soldiers of
the Kosovo Liberation Army was vandalized last night.

Albanians from the villages of Firaje and Brod are
blocking the Urosevac-Strpce highway, along which the
monument was erected, in protest today.

Sources in Kosovo say that the fence and metal door
protection of the monument were destroyed and the
memorial statue itself was broken in half.

The marble statue was erected four years ago near the
Albanian village of Firaje. Police have yet to give a
statement regarding the incident.

Kosovo opposition wants Kosumi out

PRISTINA – The leading oppositional party in Kosovo,
the Democratic party of Kosovo, is calling for Kosovo
Prime Minister Bajram Kosumi to resign.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo, headed by Hasim Taci,
claims that Kosumi spent 30,000 euros for a chartered
flight returning from his holiday in Turkey last
night.

Kosumi, who became PM four months ago after former
prime minister Ramus Haradinaj was extradited to The
Hague, said that the flight was not paid for using
government funds but financed by friends of his.

Taci's party has called on Kosovo Governor Soeren
Jessen-Petersen to immediately launch an investigation
into the matter, stating that Kosumi is "damaging the
image of Kosovo and putting the stability, democracy
and responsibility of the Kosovo institutions at
risk."

Also, Kosumi's media advisor Daut Dauti resigned last
night, citing as the reason for his departure the
current situation within the PM's office which, he
says, does not allow for normal communication between
himself and Kosumi to exist.
