Iran shifts billions from Europe’s banks
ISN SECURITY WATCH (Saturday, 21 January: 10.30 CET) - Iran is transferring its assets out of European banks in case international sanctions are imposed over the nuclear crisis, news agencies reported. Ebrahim Sheibani, the governor of the Iranian Central Bank, confirmed on Friday that his officials had begun shifting funds. Iran has more than US$36 billion in hard currency reserves in foreign banks, most of them European banks, according to reports. It was not immediately clear where the assets were being moved, although reports have suggested the funds could be shifted to Asia. http://www.isn.ethz.ch/news/sw/details.cfm?ID=14482 Serbian News Network - SNN [email protected] http://www.antic.org/
