Serbs will not accept independent Kosovo

Serbia says it will not accept an independent Kosovo, which although under
U.N. protection since 1999 remains a part of Serbia and
Montenegro.
Serbia's intention was made
clear by its foreign minister, who will be attending a meeting of foreign
ministers of the European Union in Austria, reports the
BBC.
Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic told
the BBC he planned to deliver a message to his European counterparts that Serbia
could never accept a fully independent Kosovo. He said such a step would be a
humiliation for Serbia and dangerous to the whole of
Europe.
The foreign ministers also will
discuss how to keep Palestinian territories functioning under its Hamas-led
government, the report said. Other issues on the agenda include EU policy on
Iran, the situation in the Ukraine and the coming elections in Belarus.
