Ukraine will support a decision on Kosovo's status, which would strengthen
stability and security in the region and Europe, as the whole, Ukrainian
Ambassador to Hungary Dmytro Tkach told the international conference "Promotion
of Stability in EU's East Neighbor-Countries". The forum, which was organized
by the Finnish Embassy, currently presiding in the EU and the Finnish Institute
of International Affairs, was attended by EU, Central and Eastern Europe
diplomats and political figures.

Ukraine proceeds from the need to finally regulate the political, economic and
security situation in Kosovo through creating prerequisites for the return of
the non-Albanian population, guaranteeing human rights to all ethnic groups of
the province. The Ukrainian side warns against hasty moves, which may
destabilize the situation in the West Balkan region. The talks on Kosovo should
be continued, proceeding from generally recognized norms and principles of the
international law, prevention of any forced or one-sided changing state
borders, the Ukrainian diplomat noted.

As UN Special Envoy for the Kosovo status Martti Ahtisaari told the forum, the
process of the Kosovo status providing is the common responsibility of the
world community.
