25.07.2007, Prishtina - New talks between Prishtina and Belgrade are
expected to be led by the United States and Russia, under the umbrella of
the Contact Group, said the head of UNMIK, Joachim Ruecker.

He made these comments following his return from Brussels where he met with
senior representatives of the European Union (EU), and with whom he
discussed about the latest developments political and security in Kosova.

Ruecker said that the decision about the 'troika' which is to lead the
status talks process will be taken today by the Contact Group political
directors for Balkans, who will meet in Vienna.

"I briefed my partners in Brussels that people and leaders of Kosova have
reacted responsibly towards the latest developments, however I have stressed
that there are many concerns and tensions in the country and that people
need and deserve clarity over the status issue," he said.

Ruecker has no idea about the agenda of the 120-day period of new talks,
adding that this is to be decided by the Contact Group.

He said that he has stressed the fact that there is skepticism in Kosova
regarding the new talks. (T.Hykolli)
