Never-questioned, never-ending distortions regarding the genesis and
evolution of war in Bosnia from l992 onward

The myth of U.S. innocence in regard to Bosnia and the constant repetition
of just how those horrible untermenschen, the Serbs kept butchering the
poor and defenceless Bosnian Muslims forces one to pose: just a few
preliminary questions to the mainstream media in the "West". The first one
is are you interested in factually documented truths or in journalistic
advocacy? If investigative journalism still survives in the post-Orwellian
age, the answer to the first question is a resounding no. If it were
otherwise, it would be noted that there was the so-called "Lisbon Agreement"
and the Rotational Presidency rule of Yugoslavia in respect to Bosnia. The
meeting of Bosnian, Serb and Croat representatives in Lisbon, brokered by
Portugal's Minister for Foreign Affairs produced the agreement to end all
armed hostilities in Bosnia as of February l992. It held until the last U.S.
Ambassadort to Yugoslavia went to Sarajevo and told the Bosnian Muslim
leader that
he does not have to honor the Lisbon Pact plus that the U.S.stands ready
to recognize Bosnia as an independent state with an automatic UN membership.
As the Bosnian Muslim leader was to step down, rotating the Presidency by
established succession rules, and turn it over to Radovan Karadzic, the U.S.
diplomatic and rather obvious intervention gave Izetbegovich the signal to
scuttle Lisbon, disregard the succession and stay in power indefinitely
-which meant war. As for the U.S. innocence in Bosnia it should be widely
known that our high-ranking officers trained directly the elite Vth Corps
of the Bosnian Muslim Army. In two battles, it was defeated by General
Mladich (the other "criminal Serb" sought by the impeccable Hague Tribunal),
losing some 10,000 men whose bodies were made to disappear by the Sarajevo
government only to re-appear whenever it was necessary to shore-up the myth
of the-Serbs-as-unilateral -aggressors and Bosnian Muslim as the
perennial and innocent victims. The innocence just does not work, all the
more so because the U.S.A.F. bombed Bosnian Serb targets repeatedly.
With the imploded Soviet Union out of the way, with a Serbia rooted in the
branch of Christianity which was never particularly respected in the
Catholic and Protestant West, with a Serbia without oil deposits plus its
neo-communist rulers and reputation of being a nation of fighters became a
most desirable target of advanced technology against which the Serbs did not
have a chance. The results of anti-Serb and pro-Muslim engagement did not
in the least help any real U.S. interests in the Middle East or elsewhere.
But, by establishing the advent of the latest IMPERIUM, the Clintonite
administration's legacy of arrogance altered in a serious way the
PERCEPTION OF THE U.S. ITSELF, without leaders capable of transcending
the self-delusions of a victory in the Balkans. The reality of it is that
"we" won in so far as the shooting stoppeds but we left our anti-colonial
roots out to dry and are allowing our foreign-policy elite to ridicule our
populist
tendencies and commit egregious faux pas abroad without any punishments at
home. This is happening in a world in which insignificant and spontaneous
grouplets can inflict mass destruction with weapons hard to stop. .
To sum it up, the big media have turned themselves into mere robots
condemned to repeat over and over again that wars amount to peace, that
virtual reality displaces even the most elementrary forms of real reality,
that the enemy to be defeated is the home publics' ability to think and
question. While Sam is a most attractive Uncle at home hardly any within
our 'ELITES' could bring themselves to belive that Uncle Sam is being
replaced by the picture of Dorian Gray in many parts of the planet earth.
Occasional exceptions not withstanding, one comes to suspect that mediatic
morality plays would lose their entertaining aspects through the fatiguing
and boring endeavors to learn. And, that is putting it charitably.
