Koštunica informs UN of "U.S. threats”

BELGRADE - Vojislav Koštunica instructed Serbia’s UN
ambassador to notify the Security Council of U.S.
threats to Serbia’s integrity.

Therefore, Ambassador Pavle Jevremoviæ is expected to
convey the prime minister’s message to all council
member states, stating that "the United States, by
implementing its policy of force, is directly
threatening Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial
integrity."

“The U.S. position according to which it will
recognize Kosovo's unilaterally proclaimed
independence implies that the U.S will violate UN
resolution 1244 and the UN Charter in the crudest
possible manner ,” Koštunica said in a statement
released on Sunday.

The prime minister has ordered that the same message
be delivered to the Russian and EU envoys to the
Contact Group mediating Troika, Aleksandr
Botsan-Kharchenko and Wolfgang Ischinger.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremiæ has said that
Serbia, in the event of a unilateral proclamation of
the province's independence, would have "no other
choice but to strongly react to the violation of its
territorial integrity and sovereignty."

“Serbia would utilize all diplomatic and political
means and not resort to any sort of military or
security activities,” stressed Jeremiæ.
