RESERVE TROOPS PREVENTED FROM ENTERING KOSOVO
BELGRADE - Slightly more than an hour ago several hundred army reservists in
military uniform crossed the administrative border with Kosovo at the
Merdare crossing but were prevented from going further by the Kosovo Police
Service.
Before they entered the territory of Kosovo Serbian police attempted and
failed to stop them.
Most of the men are soldiers who fought in Kosovo during the NATO bombing in
1999.
The reservists are carrying Serbian flags and singing patriotic songs.
They emphasized they have no intention of disturbing law and order.
Before arriving they held a peaceful protest meeting in Kursumlija.
The Merdare crossing is located some 20 kilometers from Kursumlija.
