UN mission in Kosovo plunders Serbian property?

Resumed railway transportation between the central Serbia and Northern
Kosovo has been denounced by the UN mission. On March 12, a first freight
train arrived in Kosovo, for the first time for the last nine years. On
March 13, it was followed by a first passenger train. Alexander Ivanko,
press secretary of UN mission in Kosovo, voiced resentment about the
situation.

REGNUM correspondent has reported that Ivanko views the resumed railway
cargo and passenger transportation between Serbia and Kosovo as "violation
of UN Security Council resolution 1244." In his words, the UN mission in
Kosovo is now contemplating measures that it could take in order to "stop
the railway connection between Serbia and Kosovo." The measures, according
to Ivanko, are to be taken by the UN police.

Remarkably, the UN mission in Kosovo does not consider transfer of rights to
use movable and real assets of the Serbian Railways Company to an Albanian
railway firm a violation of resolution 1244. It was exactly this illegal
transfer of property that prompted Serbia's active protest reaction.

The property transfer violates both the will of the Serbian side and UN
Security Council decisions.
