End of Europe?":

“The West’s stance is inconsistent and self-contradictory. If it supports
Kosovo’s independence, why does it oppose the independence of Flanders in
Belgium?”

I would add the lack of support for Tibet’s independence (who wants to deal
with China), no serious support for an independent Palestine, Kurdistan, Tamil
region in Sri Lanka, and many others.

The current world order is based on realism, or Realpolitik, the oldest and
most used theory of international relations. The realist approach views states
as rational and unitary factors focused solely on self-interests, national
security, and balance of power.

Realism influences states to pursue their national interests even if they are
contrary to the interests of other states and peoples. Morals, ethics, and
legality are the least important principles for realists.

The West is not driven by humanitarianism in Kosovo. Kosovo is important to the
West only because it is a battleground where they are opposing Russia.
