GRACANICA -- UN police tried to arrest Pristina Municipal Coordinator
Slavisa Nikolic in Gracanica today.

According to a statement from the Kosovo Ministry's office in Kosovska
Mitrovica, a UN police officer tried to arrest Nikolic this morning in the
offices of the Pristina municipality, which have been moved to Gracanica.

Staff in the municipal building objected to Nikolic's arrest, whereupon, it
is claimed, the officer "threatened to summon UN special units, and warned
that he would definitely be arrested by the end of the day."

According to the statement, today's attempted arrest is one of the reasons
for the great tension felt by Serbs in central Kosovo.
