PRISTINA -- UNMIK officials have said that UN SC Resolution 1244 will remain
in force after Kosovo's constitution takes effect, Albanian language media
in Pristina say.

"We are acquainted with the situation and we know that we must take June 15
into account, but Resolution 1244 remains in force, there will be a UN
secretary-general's special representative, however, we will have to wait
for a rearrangement as the answer to the developments," an UNMIK spokesman
was quoted as saying by the daily Express.

The newspaper also reported the UN mission in Kosovo is awaiting
instructions from New York.

In the meantime, EU, NATO, UN and UNMIK representatives will meet Wednesday
in Vienna to continue talks on the future international presence in Kosovo,
especially that of EULEX, the same daily said.

The meeting will be held within the International Steering Group (ISG)
framework, and is set to focus on the role for UNMIK, with Kosovo
constitution and the EU mission in mind.

But another paper, Zeri, says that the Kosovo Albanian authorities and
representatives of the opposition parties believe that with June 15, "there
will be no need for dual administration, and that EULEX should take over
from UNMIK completely".

Kosovo's premier, Hashim Thaci, said today that when the new constitution
takes effect, this province's institutions will function in its entire
territory.
