[23.07.08] Radovan Karadzic was arrested thanks to the 6,6 million US
Dollars reward for information, promised by American and by Serbian
authorities for locating the fugitive. 

Former chief of Belgrade police Marko Nikovic claims this, adding that the
rewards for Slobodan Milosevic, which was 5 million dollars, was paid in
2001, Croatian media report.

"I am sure Radovan Karadzic was given away by someone from his surrounding
and will receive millions of dollars", Nikovic said, claiming that when
Milosevic was sent away to the Hague, then-prime minister of Serbia Zoran
Gjingjic collected the reward.

The US Government promised award of 5 million dollars for information about
Radovan Karadzic, while the Serbian Government offered additional million
Euros.

"This money has already been paid, either to Boris Tadic or to someone in
Karadzic's surrounding. At the time, Zoran Gjingjic collecte 5 million
dollars for delivery of Slobodan Milosevic. There are witnesses of that"
Milorad Mircic, vicepresident of Serbian Radical party said.

According to the media, American Government pays the money to the person
which brought the desired information, and the person could decide in which
country and in which currency to collect the reward. Besides the reward, the
"informer" has the right to enter the witness protection programme, the
media add.
