[Report by "L.V.": "Velimir Ilic: We Will Be Joining Radicals"]
Belgrade - The New Serbia [NS] Party will be joining the protest that
is being organized by the Serbian Radical Party [SRS] in response to
the arrest of former [B-H] Serb Republic President Radovan Karadzic,
NS leader Velimir Ilic has told Danas. To our question as to the way
in which they would participate in the protest and how they would
support its organization, Ilic replied that his party would do all
that was asked of them.
"There has been no answer to the questions as to why and how
Karadzic's arrest was carried out and whether people were denied
information about where and how he was arrested and by whom. We Serbs
are not quite so cheap to be sold out so easily. They do not want to
finish anything the way it should be finished or to keep the people
properly informed," Ilic said.
The SRS will be organizing a protest on Tuesday [29 July] for
safeguarding democracy and against a media blackout in Serbia, Deputy
Chairman Tomislav Nikolic has announced. He said that protest walks
would be organized, perhaps even in [Belgrade's elite residential
district of] Dedinje, which is where Serbian President Boris Tadic has
his residence, because the protest is directed against him. At a press
conference yesterday, Nikolic invited the DSS [Democratic Party of
Serbia], the NS, and the SPS [Socialist Party of Serbia] to join the
protest. He stressed that he was not inviting SPS leader Ivica Dacic,
but those Socialists that had protested when the party's Chairman
Slobodan Milosevic was arrested and delivered to the Hague tribunal.
