                                                             Remember the
NATO Bombing?

Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Cenotaph, March
24 at 2 p.m.

This year, March 24 marks the tenth anniversary of NATO’s bombing of
Yugoslavia. Members of the Association of Serbian Women, joined by others
from the Canadian Serbian community, will commemorate the day by laying a
wreath at the Cenotaph at the Old City Hall.

We will gather at 1.30 p.m. and after a few short speeches and a prayer we
will observe a moment of silence at 2 p.m., the exact time when the NATO
bombing of Yugoslavia began, ten years ago.

We hope that our presence will remind our fellow Canadians of the tragedy
that has befallen the people of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) and many
innocent victims of NATO aggression, as well as of the horrible legacy of
depleted uranium used during the 78 days of bombing. NATO’s invasion helped
create the illegal criminal state of Kosovo, a black hole in which huge
efforts and billions of dollars have vanished without a trace. Serbs are
terrorized and killed almost every day, their churches and property burned,
and they only survive by living in ghettos under armed protection. Over 200
Orthodox churches and monasteries have been destroyed.

With sadness that the lessons have not been learnt, we reach out in our pain
to innocent victims of all other wars waged in the name of “democracy.”

The invitations to join us and honour the victims of this illegal and unjust
war are going to peace groups and peace loving Canadians.

We may forgive but we should never forget, in an effort to prevent these
crimes from happening again.
