UN judge rejects Karadzic jurisdiction challenges Released : Wednesday, April 29, 2009 7:46 AM THE HAGUE, Netherlands-A judge at the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal has rejected challenges by Radovan Karadzic to the U.N. court's jurisdiction to try him on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity. The former Bosnian Serb leader objected to several parts of his 11-count indictment in motions filed since his arrest July in Belgrade. Pretrial judge Iain Bonomy said in a 33-page ruling released Wednesday that none of Karadzic's arguments persuasively challenge the court's jurisdiction. Prosecutors had no immediate response to the rulings, which help clear the path for Karadzic's trial to begin. It is not immediately clear if Karadzic will appeal Bonomy's decisions. His trial is expected to get under way later this year. __._,_.___
