U.S. European Command recognizes Macedonian soldiers' service during
Operation Iraqi Freedom

-Army Chief of Defense Lt. Gen. Stojonavski said as a result of the
successful cooperation with the United States and the U.S. Army, Macedonia
is planning for a future joint deployment with members of the Vermont
National Guard to bolster forces in Afghanistan.
SKOPJE, Macedonia: Navy Rear Adm. Andy Brown, director of logistics at U.S.
European Command, recognized Macedonian soldiers Dec. 14 for their
distinguished service during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The Republic of Macedonia committed more than 500 soldiers to the coalition
effort in Iraq and those soldiers returned home last year.
"We recognize the individual efforts of ARM [Army of the Republic of
Macedonia] soldiers in support of coalition peacekeeping operations," Brown
said. "The United States and Republic of Macedonia have stood side-by-side
in Iraq since 2003 with great success."
Macedonia has a history of support in peacekeeping operations and are
currently supporting missions in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Lebanon.

The soldiers of Macedonia will continue their support toward security and
stability.
