The definite truth

THE OTTAWA CITIZENAPRIL 7, 2010

Re: Muddying the waters, April 3.

It is obvious that letter-writer Peter Nikic believes that there is only one
guilty side -- the Serbs -- in the Bosnian conflict, while the Bosnian Muslim
crimes committed against thousands of Serbs had not happened. He is wrong in
presuming that the carefully orchestrated propaganda against the Serbs during
1990s should be taken in the court of law as the only and definite truth.
By following the news from the Hague, it is easy to conclude that the trial of
the former Bosnian Serb leader, Radovan Karadzic, is a political trial and that
the verdict against him is sealed. But it does not mean that justice is done.
What about the fundamental right to a fair trial?
Branding the courageous retired general Lewis MacKenzie as Karadzic's
"apologist" because he stands by his decision to tell what he had witnessed in
Sarajevo is one of the countless attempts by those who want to prevent the
truth to be told about who had what role in the bloody Bosnian conflict.
