"I'm Not Feeling It"

In a widely reported incident that went viral, an American Airlines pilot
canceled a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu. The flight had already faced
issues, including a leaky faucet in the galley on the first aircraft,
leading to a plane change. However, on the second aircraft, the pilot
noticed a high engine oil pressure reading.

Even though maintenance assured the crew that the plane was safe to fly, the
pilot was not convinced. He made an announcement to the passengers, which
was captured on video, stating: "They've told us that the plane is good to
go, but I'm not really feeling it. I'm not going to leave the ground if I'm
not completely certain that we have an airworthy aircraft."

The pilot's honest and direct communication was met with applause from the
passengers. The flight was ultimately canceled, but the pilot's decision was
widely praised by the public and other aviation professionals for adhering
to the "safety first" principle, especially on a long trans-Pacific flight
with limited diversion points.
