The Boothbay Region Ambulance crew arrived and whisked him off to Miles Memorial Hospital ER. After a myriad of tests including a cat scan the Dr.s decided he had a life threatening blockage in his small intestine and needed immediate surgery in spite of the fear of possible problems of general anesthesia with his lung issues. She gave us the wonderful news that the surgery had gone well and he was now off the ventilator! Jim is recovering in the ICU minus a significant length of his small intestine.
