American Airlines to debut electronic boarding gates at DFW

American Airlines will implement electronic boarding gates at Dallas Fort Worth
International Airport this summer after a successful pilot. The gates will
debut in the new Terminal C Pier Expansion, streamlining the boarding process
by automating boarding pass validation and reducing congestion. "Boarding plays
a key role in how customers experience the final moments before their flight,
and electronic boarding gates will further elevate that experience, creating a
more seamless and consistent process," says Heather Garboden, chief customer
officer at American Airlines.

"Indulgent explorers" value privacy, unique experiences

A Phocuswright report profiles "indulgent explorers," a unique segment of
premium travelers who prioritize privacy, exclusivity and unique experiences
over brand names. These travelers, who spend at least $1,500 per person per day
on leisure trips, are more likely to choose short-term rentals over hotels and

FAA O'Hare cap looks to prevent summer gridlock

The Federal Aviation Administration is taking a proactive step to prevent
gridlock at Chicago O'Hare International Airport this summer by proposing to
cap daily takeoffs and landings at 2,800, and possibly as low as 2,400. The
measure comes as American Airlines and United Airlines have added hundreds of
flights, raising concerns about increased congestion. The Chicago Department of
Aviation opposes the proposal, saying the airport can handle more flights due
to recent expansions.
