| American Airlines cancels flights due to DFW ground stop |

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop at Dallas-Fort Worth 
International Airport on Tuesday because of thunderstorms, leading American 
Airlines to cancel and delay hundreds of flights. The disruptions continued 
into Wednesday, with American Airlines having the most cancellations and delays 
among US carriers. Passengers expressed frustration over long wait times and 
mishandled baggage.

| Southwest policy shifts protect business long-term, exec says |

Southwest Airlines has made major changes to its business model, ending its 
signature two free checked bags policy and open seating. Executive Vice 
President Tony Roach explained at the 2026 Fortune COO Summit that these shifts

| United aims to increase flights at Newark, upgrade Terminal B |

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby has outlined plans to increase flights at 
Newark Airport by acquiring slots from the defunct Spirit Airlines and possibly 
raising the hourly flight cap from 72 to 75. Kirby has also discussed designs 
for a new Terminal B with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

| 5 airlines secure $24M contract for military medical transport |

Delta Air Lines, Lynden Air Cargo, Northern Air Cargo, Sun Country and UPS have 
secured a $24 million contract from the Defense Logistics Agency to transport 
military medical supplies within the US for one year. The contract, which could 
be extended for up to four additional years, was awarded based on 13 
submissions.

| Alaska Airlines limits basic economy, raises partner fees |

Alaska Airlines has announced changes to its basic economy fares, known as 
saver fares, by eliminating loyalty program earn miles and status for these 
tickets starting in August. The airline is also increasing partner award 
booking fees from $12.50 to $20 each way beginning July 1.

| GE closes in on flight tests of hybrid-electric engine |

GE Aerospace is nearing flight tests of a megawatt-class hybrid-electric engine 
system, following successful ground tests at its Peebles, Ohio, facility. The 
system, part of NASA's Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstration project, 
uses a GE Aerospace CT7 turboprop with GE-developed motor/generators and other 
components from Dowty, Avio Aero and BAE Systems. The project is also part of 
the CFM International Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines 
initiative.

| FAA wants Spirit's LaGuardia slots sold to low-cost carrier |

The Federal Aviation Administration wants Spirit Airlines to sell its 22 slots 
at LaGuardia Airport to another low-cost carrier, rather than a major airline, 
to maintain competition and prevent fare increases. The slots, valued at $87 
million, are set for auction July 9, pending bankruptcy court approval. Delta 
Air Lines, which already holds over 40% of LaGuardia's market share, would face 
antitrust scrutiny if it bids.

| El Al resumes San Francisco-Tel Aviv direct flights |

El Al will resume nonstop flights between San Francisco and Tel Aviv on Oct. 
25, operating three times a week. The route, suspended in March 2020 amid the 
coronavirus pandemic, meets demand from Silicon Valley tech workers and 
entrepreneurs. United Airlines, which stopped its direct flights after the 
October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, has not announced when it will resume 
service.

Air Canada will retrofit its widebody fleet, including older Boeing 777s and 
Dreamliners, with new Glowing Hearted cabins, featuring Signature Plus Business

2029, with the first retrofitted aircraft entering service that year.
