I have tried to run the GhostScript command line used by your print queue:

cat file.ps | gs -q -dBATCH -dPARANOIDSAFER -dQUIET -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=ijs -sIjsServer=hpijs -sDeviceManufacturer="HEWLETT-PACKARD" -sDeviceModel="deskjet 5550" -dDEVICEWIDTHPOINTS=595 -dDEVICEHEIGHTPOINTS=842 -dDuplex=false -r300 -sIjsParams=Quality:Quality=1,Quality:ColorMode=2,Quality:MediaType=0,Quality:PenSet=2 -dIjsUseOutputFD -sOutputFile=- - > testfile

manually and it works. This I have done with packages of the current Cooker. So you should also try to run the command line manually and if it does not work for you, update the packages "ghostscript", "printer-filters", and "foomatic" from the Cooker and try this command line again. If it works now, try (I don't know the exact name of this file):

cat testfile > /var/run/ptal-printd/mlc_usb_PSC_2200_Series

If this does not work, there is perhaps a kernel problem (which kernel do you have, do you have a VIA chipset on your motherboard?).

If this works, re-create your print queue with printerdrake and you should be able to print.
