Hi, i hope you're having a great summer! :)

Here are *this week's public hearings* before both the City Council and the Planning Commission -- click on the links for the details and also note my picks for what looks interesting or hot. :)

Appropriating 72,000 dollars to the new Arts Center?, approving a loan of 1,000,000 dollars for the Housing Rehab. Fund?, various rezoning requests?, and how long should portable containers be allowed in all zones?
*
Tuesday, August 7th @ 5:30pm -- Study Session*

A Landlord Education Program?, changes to radio cellphone tower regulations?, and disc golf restrictions at Bicentennial Park? -- my teammates in our local pickup Ultimate league will be interested in that one.* *Wait -- also a discussion on "code cleanup" sounds interesting in light of campaign promises from 4 years ago.
*
Wednesday, August 8th @ 6:00pm -- Planning Commission*

All of their public hearings look interesting in terms of zoning issues -- especially check it out if you own property *or if property rights interests you in the least bit.*
*
All meetings are in the council hall/chambers at the City Center @ 351 W. Center St. /If there's no way for you to attend, you can email them ahead of time and that way your comments go on the public record. See the links above for the details on how to contact them./

*I hope to meet you at at least one of them!

*** *Lastly, we're still collecting signatures for the Fair Zoning Initiative and need your help in spreading the word *-- we're on track to finish early in the Fall -- this means *the current city council will be required by state law to face the issue before we vote for them in November* -- you can bet that is going to be very, very interesting! Some of them are in denial right now.

"Keep hope alive", your civics brother,

*P.S. Remember that during the first 15 minutes of Tuesday's 7:00pm meeting -- during all regular council meetings -- you can take 3 minutes to ask a question of the council and/or the mayor.

Some on the council have specifically asked us to bring proof of how the current zoning laws are unjustly hurting people -- this is your time to speak out -- please consider coming and sharing your story sometime soon. Then you can ask them what they are going to do about it.

thanks!*
