Hi, the city made a few updates to Tuesday night's (tonight by the time you read this probably!) agenda. The last one was made at 5:35pm so they just barely got it in before the 24 hour state law deadline! :(

#1 -- I'm pretty disappointed that the council didn't put out an official public notice before today about the hottest item of the night -- the _Street Parking Fees for South Joaquin_ -- from Center St. up to 500 N. and from University Ave. over to 900 East basically.

This showed up on Google News alerts today -- http://newsnet.byu.edu/story.cfm/72587 -- "... The cost for the parking permits [for owner absentees and their tenants] is anticipated to be $50 per month ..." but for owner occupants [and/or their tenants] they get "one free permit" per property to share.

I think it's completely unjust to have two sets of rules -- because whether you're an owner or a tenant you use the property/streets for "residential" purposes just the same.

Owners and tenants alike all use the property as shelter/sleeping, and for relaxing, and to cook/prepare food, and to use the sewer system to put it bluntly. How does an owner or a tenant differ in these uses?

They all pay a per usage cost on the sewer and storm drains so why should only some of the citizens have to pay more for parking? The citizens that want to get a free pass while charging the other citizens have yet to justify the two sets of rules. So far all I've heard are rationalizations that don't consider the full picture. Please let the city council know how you feel about this <mailto:[email protected]> if you can't come and speak out!

Anyway, here is the rest of the agenda -- it looks like it's going to be a looooong night so give me a call/text me or turn to Channel 1 or Channel 17 to see where in the meeting it's at before you come.

#2 -- RSVP -- if you'll be joining us at some point during the meeting, please RSVP @ http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=100093827455

Thanks!

Hi everybody, i hope you had a nice weekend and Sunday!, :)

Tomorrow is the 3rd Tuesday of the month and so that means it's city council meeting time again.

Sadly, the city council has not yet released an agenda for it (since by law they're only required to give 24 hours notice of the details). The council seems to release the agenda late, only a day before, way too often. :( Other times they'll release it the Thursday prior to the meeting. I encourage you to email the city council <mailto:[email protected]> asking them to release the meeting agendas earlier so more of the public can be informed! :)

Anyway, it starts @ 7:00pm tomorrow, May 19th @ City Hall (351 W. Center St.)

The only thing we know about it for sure is this Public Hearing on a Land Use item (which by law they're required to give public notice of two weeks in advance):
~~~~~
Ray Morley requests an amendment to the General Plan Policies creating policies for the South State Street Corridor, addressing mix use developments and design standards from approximately 900 South to SR 75 (Springville City limits). Spring Creek and Provost South Neighborhoods 08-0006GPA
       http://provo.org/comdev.pc_agenda_032509.html Item 3
NOTE: you can also find more details on the Project @ http://www.sssrp.com/ -- this affects all of Southeast Provo.
~~~~~

And of course there's always the Questions/Comments for the Council & Mayor portion of the meeting. Feel free to come and speak out during this portion. :) Or you can email them your questions/comments <mailto:[email protected]> and ask them to be read during this portion of the meeting.

Please RSVP if you'll be sitting with us so we can save seats. I'll send a followup email once the full agenda is released by the council later today.

Thanks, and please forward this announcement to your neighbors, etc.
