Happy Potter Eve

Finally, a fiction book about a witch and magic that doesn't involve Hillary
Clinton and those amazing Rose Law Firm billing records. "Harry Potter and
the Order of the Phoenix" hits the shelves at midnight tonight and will
FINALLY, mercifully knock Hillary Clinton's tome off the front pages and
airwaves. And if this latest yarn by J.K. Rowling lives up to its
predecessors, "Phoenix" will likely be more believable than "Living
History." It'll certainly be more entertaining.

Kim Bryant Interview Next on "Always Right"

Kim Bryant - the courageous Waltham, Massachusetts mother whose refusal to
knuckle under to the strong-arm tactics of government bureaucrats over the
home schooling of her two children has ignited a national firestorm and
heated debate over who should control a child's education - will be my
special guest for a one-hour interview this Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. (EST)
on "Always Right with Chuck Muth." You won't want to miss this one. The
link to listen in is...

send them to [EMAIL PROTECTED] And by the way, yes, we have bestowed
upon George and Kim Bryant our "Profiles in Conservative Courage Award."

In the Interest of Full Disclosure

Most readers who emailed me about the Bill O'Reilly interview with Kim &
George Bryant on Wednesday night thought O'Reilly was unduly harsh on the
homeschooling couple. His comment that there would be "anarchy" if everyone
pulled their kids out of the government education system completely missed
the point about parental vs. government control. I couldn't understand
where O'Reilly was coming from.

That is, until John, our producer of "Always Right," informed me that O'
Reilly was once a high school teacher. THAT explained his hostility to home
schooling. Only wish he'd have disclosed that fact and potential conflict
of interest before his interview with the Bryants.

Freedom vs. Gov't Control

"(S)ome home-schooling families are still reluctant to submit to
standardized testing because it would be an indirect method for the state to
gain control over the curriculum. If home-schoolers were required to pass
standardized tests geared to public school curricula, is it not inevitable
that their families would have to alter their curricula to teach to those
tests?

"Don't just assume the (Massachusetts home school parents Kim and George
Bryant) are being stubborn and unreasonable. This is a freedom issue. Why
shouldn't the Bryants or any other parents be free to make their own
curricular choices?"

- Columnist David Limbaugh

Birds of an Anti-American Feather.

"Folk singer Pete Seeger, actress Susan Sarandon and singer Harry Belafonte
are among those scheduled to appear at a benefit tomorrow for the Rosenberg
Fund for Children, 'which assists children of people imprisoned, attacked or
fired for taking a public stand,' the Associated Press reports. The fund is
named for Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, whose 'public stand' consisted of
betraying America and spying for the Soviet Union."

Kerry Calls Bush a Liar

"Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said Wednesday that President
Bush broke his promise to build an international coalition against Iraq's
Saddam Hussein and then waged a war based on questionable intelligence. 'He
misled every one of us,'' Kerry said. ''That's one reason why I'm running to
be president of the United States.'' . . . Still, Kerry said it is too early
to conclude whether or not war with Iraq was justified."

- Associated Press, 6/18/03

And the Winner Is.

"There has been a spirited contest to see who could use the words 'Bush' and
'lied' (or 'misled,' 'deceived' or 'tricked') most often in the same
paragraph. So far, Sen. Bob Graham, Florida Democrat, seems to have a
narrow lead."

- Columnist William Rusher

Go Dean, Go!

"'If (Howard) Dean is the (Democrat) nominee it will make 1972 look
competitive,' said one Democratic strategist not aligned with any of the
presidential campaigns, referring to the resounding defeat of Sen. George
McGovern (D-SD) by President Richard Nixon. 'Members and candidates in
marginal seats will be running for the hills.'"

Taxpayer's Best Friend

"President Bush's two major tax cuts in 2001 and 2003 have removed nearly 4

Death to the Death Tax

"The House yesterday passed its third major tax bill of the year, a
permanent repeal of the inheritance tax, as Republicans continued to make
good on their promise to exhaust the full $1.2 trillion of tax relief
allowed in their budget.

"...The legislation faces a hurdle in the Senate, which failed in the 107th
Congress to pass any of the three versions passed by the House. Senate
Minority Leader Tom Daschle, South Dakota Democrat, said yesterday that he
doesn't believe Republicans have the votes this year, either."

- Washington Times, 6/19/03

A Little Help Please

Abuse by social service bureaucrats who rip families apart under dubious
claims and allegations is certainly nothing new and I'm now getting horror
story after horror story about such incidents from around the country.
Often, the parents who have had their kids taken from them don't have the
financial resources necessary to pay for legal help to fight the system.
Does anyone out there know of any organizations or attorneys who specialize
in and offer help to such parents?

Also, on another topic altogether, I seem to recall that there is a
Republican congressman out there somewhere who has proposed legislation
which would require that the Constitutional authority for any new law be
cited. Anyone know who that congressman is and what the legislation is
titled (or the bill number)?
