The media also continues to pound the �Rumsfeld should resign� story.� The New York Times today reports that �Rumsfeld is said to weigh every day whether he can continue to effectively run the world's largest military.�� Wow!� We're at war, the Secretary of Defense is under relentless attack from the so-called �loyal opposition� and the nation's media�� - Talk show host Neal Boortz, 5/13/04 HOW ABOUT THIS? �(Jesse Jackson) is now saying that calls for Donald Rumsfeld to resign aren't enough.� Rumsfeld, says Jackson, ought to be tried for war crimes.� Again ... the same theme.� Saying outrageous things that can only make the enemy smile.� Just how many American causalities can we chalk up to the Democrats constant stream of statements, charges and accusations against Bush's conduct of the war, and the very fact that the war is taking place.�Imagine how much better things might be going in Iraq if the terrorists knew that while Democrats might have some domestic policy differences with the president, but that they were solidly behind him in his determination to destroy Islamic terrorism?� - Talk show host Neal Boortz SOME COVER-UP You�ve heard a lot of huffing-and-puffing from the left about a Pentagon cover-up of the Abu Ghraib prison incident. What you might not have heard is that the incident and its investigation were announced to the world by the military on January 16, 2004 in a press release headlined, �Detainee Treatment Investigation.� Let�s see, that would have been four MONTHS ago. In fact, the release is still available to inspect in the CentCom web page archives at: http://www.centcom.mil/CENTCOMNews/News_Release.asp?NewsRelease=20040143.txt But since the release was so short and to the point, I�ll save you the trouble of clicking through: �BAGHDAD, Iraq � An investigation has been initiated into reported incidents of detainee abuse at a Coalition Forces detention facility. The release of specific information concerning the incidents could hinder the investigation, which is in its early stages. The investigation will be conducted in a thorough and professional manner. The Coalition is committed to treating all persons under its control with dignity, respect and humanity. Lt. Gen. Ricardo S. Sanchez, the Commanding General, has reiterated this requirement to all members of CJTF-7.� Bush-hating/Rumsfeld-loathing Members of Congress who claim this is some kind of Watergate-style cover-up ought to be stripped naked, handcuffed to a bed and photographed with a leash around their necks. Oh, I�m sorry. Was that insensitive? NO WONDER HE MISSED THE MEMO �Sen. Tom Harkin, an Iowa Democrat, is pressing for passage of a bill that would remove candy, chips and other snack foods from the nation's public schools,� reports CNSNews.com. Harkin is one of the leading voices out to tar-and-feather Don Rumsfeld for Congress not knowing about the Iraqi prison brouhaha. Maybe if Sen. Harkin would focus on the big items...like...oh, I don�t know...the war on terrorists?...instead of what kind of vending machines local public schools allow in their cafeterias, he wouldn�t have missed that crucial press release. KERRY�S (NON)DEFENSE CHIEF �Sen. John F. Kerry told MSNBC's �Imus in the Morning� there are �any number of people� that he would name as Secretary of Defense -- and then he named some of them. . . . But it was Kerry's mention of (Sen. Carl) Levin that raised eyebrows at the Republican National Committee. �RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie issued a statement, saying, �Senator Levin and Senator Kerry have consistently opposed important defense programs, supported deep cuts in intelligence funding and voted against the death penalty for terrorists.� The RNC noted that Sen. Levin voted against both the 1991 Gulf War and the current Operation Iraqi Freedom; and he voted against the death penalty for terrorists at least five times.� - CNSNews.com, 5/13/04 THE EXCEPTION WHICH PROVES THE RULE �The only thing that seems consistent about (John Kerry) is his inconsistency.� - Bush/Cheney campaign chief Marc Racicot SERVING & PROTECTING �A couple of weeks ago in (Washington, DC), a bunch of (pro-choice) women got together for a rally � you might have heard about it. On the one hand, the 33-year-old filmmaker's comico-anarchist sensibility is, like the greasy Big Macs he simultaneously loves and hates, irresistible. But the movie's content is completely absurd. By gorging himself on vast quantities of the worst sludge on the McMenu -- guess what? -- Spurlock gains 25 pounds and feels like a wilted french fry that has spent too many days under the warmer lamp. The truth is that if you were to eat a diet of exclusively foie gras, caviar, and champagne for 30 days you would trash your health just as surely as Spurlock trashed his.
