The problem might be a result of a change in the way News Clipper searches for
the system-wide config file. Before, the location of the system-wide config
file would be embedded in the DailyUpdate.pl script during installation.

This caused 2 problems: modification during installation is infeasible for the
compiled commercial version, and moving the global config file might require
changing a lot of NewsClipper.pl files.

So... The new version uses the NEWSCLIPPER environment variable to find the
global NewsClipper.cfg See the README in NewsClipper-1.0102.tar.gz for more
details.
