The exit polls sponsored by a major media consortium are the only national snapshot of the presidential election. How reliable will they be this time around? In 2004 they compensated for the dreary rural/red state segment performance for Bush by claiming a 66% turnout increase in big cities (over 500,000) and by re-animating 4.0 million new big city white voters (turnout in big cities was only 13% according to reported totals). This was in their final exit poll the day after the election.
Will there be some more election magic by the media consortium this year? Only if we let them forget this misleading work in 2004. <http://usacoup.scoop.co.nz/?p=904>Michael Collins: Exit Poll Mess - 2008 Peace, Michael Collins Peace --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Mark Crispin Miller's "News From Underground" newsgroup.
