The first of several US Supreme Court petitions challenging
President-Elect Obama in an attempt to overrule the American
presidential election regardless of the will of the people was denied
today. See
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081208/ap_on_go_su_co/scotus_obama_2

However this may signal an unlikelihood for future Supreme Court
petitions to be granted, more will be appealed to the Supreme Court
(including one for the state of California to be filed today) and some
are already there still waiting in line.

After the appeals, it's off to Congress, which is where the legal
establishment is pointing is the way to go. Arguably this is worse
than court resolution, and in any case the fact that a Democratic
Congress would most likely re-elect Obama should not blind us to the
danger of allowing Congress any right to second-guess our elections,
even if it goes "the right way" this time. Right and wrong
constitutionally and democratically is not based at all on who would
win.

My blog, status update and thoughts on strategy for the (yes)
definitely coming next steps are here:
