Why should we take $3,000 dollars out of our paychecks every year to give it to the insurance companies so they can deny millions of people care? My sister cannot afford health insurance. I want my $3,000 to cover her instead of getting wasted on some greedy insurance executive. Do you want your $3,000 to cover a loved one, a sick child, or a neighbor OR do you want your $3,000 to go to some sleazy Wall Street health insurance "investor"? Many of us want a single payer system, but that feeling does not give us a smooth federal transition to a quality, universal health care system, which the strong public option solution provides. We must have the choice to save money through a strong public option. And allow the Republicans to get ripped off from the insurance companies if that's what they choose to do. Eventually, the Republicans will learn that government health protection is better than private insurance. Conservatives fought for slavery to protect their dirty profits. Conservatives fought against child labor laws to protect their sleazy profits. And now conservatives are fighting against quality, affordable health care for all to protect their exploitative profits. And now we're going to beat them just like we always do. We Democrats must bridge our differences and act as one to defeat the Republican do-nothings. We are the majority and we want to buy into Medicare right now. Every person over 50 should have the option of buying into Medicare for $4,000 per year, the average Medicare cost for recipients who are not in their last year of life. If you're younger than 50, the price should go down a lot fast(like $1,500 a year when you're in your twenties). We have the right to refuse this Republican rip off. The Republicans want to force us to buy lousy, expensive health insurance policies and deny us the choice of buying Medicare government health protection. Once again Republicans are trying to deny us choice. Everyone has the right to quality, affordable medical care. Every sick child must be able to see a doctor. People should not lose their houses because they get sick. The insurance company AIG got $70 billion from the federal government. The tax subsidy for health insurance companies is over $250 billion per year. People are losing their house, jobs and health as the insurance companies are gobbling up all our tax dollars. And now they want to force us to buy their junk? Just say no to the insurance companies and their sleazy profits and yes to choice- the choice to buy health protection from Medicare. We need health care, not insurance company bailouts.
