Post: In Ireland? Quick poll on joining UK in area online community of practice
- Reply now, Possible EU E-Democracy Exchange

We've been working to form an inclusive UK E-Democracy Exchange that includes
active participation from Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland and England. In that
process, some are strongly suggesting the best way to be inclusive on N.
Ireland is to also invite in the rest of Ireland.

I'll support that move if a majority of our Irish (N/S) DoWire members e-mail
me a say, "Yes, let's make it the "UK IE E-Democracy Exchange." So vote yes or
no in the next *24 hours* to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Also, we will absolutely need a co-host from southern Ireland to join Tom
Steinberg, mySociety (England), Ella Smith, International Teledemocracy Centre
(Scotland), and Dr. David Newman, e-Consultation Research Centre (N. Ireland)
as hosts. We also need an co-host based in Wales to help "seed" at least one
post a month on the forum. Interested in being a co-host? E-mail: [EMAIL
PROTECTED]

Join the online community of practice here:

And, if you want to encourage other to join, co-sign the draft invite letter
here (online group membership/login required -
http://groups.dowire.org/r/post/126678 ).

EU E-Democracy Exchange?

Finally, not to complicate matters, but I do have in interest in moving the
DO-EU YahooGroup over to http://groups.dowire.org for exchange on EU-wide
e-democracy/e-participation activities and *potentially* EU-funded projects of
the same nature. It would be primarily for folks involved with projects like
DebateEurope, those helping EU Commissioners blog, etc. And based on
participant interest, it could be extended to open exchange EU-funded
e-participation projects.

If you'd like to help lead an EU-wide online community of practice, drop me a
note: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

P.S. Anyone remember the old ISPO and El-Democracy e-mail lists ... my ability
to connect with and learn from European information society projects once those
lists were closed has never been the same. I figure *most* of the valuable
exchange on e-democracy should happen online and not rely on expensive (but
essential) in-person opportunities.
