For the record - I really don't care about the use of aliases in online gaming communities. What I do care about is the fundamental poisoning of local democracy and communities by online newspapers with anonymous commenting. I expect far more of the media that expect me to buy their content or support their advertisers in safe democracies. Independent blogs or forum, do whatever you like ... but E-Democracy.org's experience at the -local level- is that real names works for civility, power, and general goodness. On-Demand: The Radio 4 programme "You & Yours", including the interview, is available online for the next 7 days: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00sz3rr Forward to minute 32:00 for the story and discussion with "Guido Fawkes" the host of http://order-order.com Finally, I launched the "Local Matters, Civility Matters, Inclusion Matters" theme at the Guardian's Activate conference.
