I'll be in DC in a couple of weeks. I have a window of time the afternoon
of Tuesday, May 6th to connect with folks on various open government/civic
tech trends.

Drop me a reply to connect: [email protected] I'll tweet any last
minute updates with hashtag" #opengovDCMay6

I propose one group option - meet at Le Bar at Sofitel Hotel, 806 15th St.
NW from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.. I will share updates with those who get in
touch.

Possible topics of conversation:

1. New Voices

- How can we launch a large scale effort to dramatically increase broad and
more representative use of open government and civic technology? Our
collective field needs to reach millions and do it far more inclusively. We
need an engine for lesson-sharing and better research on reaching new and
more people. Note: http://e-democracy.org/newvoices

2. State Leadership with Open Government

- State legislatures and Governors will be a key engine for funding open
government and civic technology acceleration in _most_ states. Most state
governments are focused on open data policies while leading mega-cities are
investing in capturing the economic development/efficiency benefits for
their region. States need to step it up. We have lessons to share from our
legislative efforts in Minnesota: http://openminnesota.org

3. OGP-Lite and International Local Open Government Progress

- There is significant global interest within OGP civil society circles in
extending the benefits of the Open Government Partnership processes to
local, regional, and provincial governments. What might this look like? Who
wants to work on this idea?

4. Digital Native Elected Officials and the Open Government and Civic
Technology Facebook Group

- We are having a great time reaching new people interested in open
government and civic technology via the new Facebook group -
http://facebook.com/groups/opengovgroup - my goal is to collaborate with
others interested in reaching out to hundreds of elected officials who use
Facebook to engage their constituents to bring them into connection with
open government builders.

5. Neighbors Online

- Lots to share http://bit.ly/newvoicesvideo http://bit.ly/edemknight -
>From Facebook Groups, to Next Door, to democratically inspired lessons from
E-Democracy, lots to talk about.
