Right now, across the country, people are having a conversation on mental
health and how to help a friend in need – through text messaging! Text Talk
Act <http://www.creatingcommunitysolutions.org/texttalkact> combines text
messaging, social media and face to face dialogue to get young people
talking with their peers about mental health. The nationwide conversation
will be held on October 6th, and will focus on how to help a friend in

Recent research <http://empowerment.unl.edu/blog/> by The Empowerment
Initiative and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation found that young people
prefer seeking help through online communication/text messaging and talking
face-to-face over seeking help via telephone. Text, Talk, Act is so
powerful because it reaches young people through the tools they are most
comfortable communicating with.
This *October 6th*, we are hosting a nationwide Text, Talk, Act. Youth
organizers, schools and non-profits can win prizes! By entering in the

the top individuals, high school, college and non-profit organization will
