Subject: Invitation: Nov 20 - 11:30 AM: Beyond Hacking for Good: An
Inclusive, Government (and Citizen)-Friendly Approach Toward Civic
Tech
To:

DC Civic Tech Friends,

Many of us work or volunteer in the Open Government and Citizen
Engagement space, but struggle with how to actually get to the point
of where government and its stakeholders are communicating and
collaborating.

G0v is a diverse community of 81, 000 online and off-line members,
that tackles social problems with the use of technology, and by making
complex data accessible and understandable to citizens. For example,
http://fact.g0v.tw/ communicates complex political issues via simple
fact-based timelines.

Hear from g0v.tw co-founder, Chia-liang Kao, how this civic tech
community (which is 60% non-tech) has managed to bring together
stakeholders and build practical tools that enable citizens to connect
with, communicate with, and collaborate with government.

This event is open to the public - please bring identification and be
prepared to share your own successes (and lessons learned) in this
space.

When: Thursday, November 20, 11:30AM – 12:30PM

Where: World Bank I Building (1850 I St., NW), Room I1-200

Click HERE for more Details + RSVP. Grateful if you would circulate
within your communities.
