Last week a group of the network themed the ideas into 10 topics. The next step is to refine the ideas under each of these themes into a smaller number of clear, specific and impactful commitments. Those commitments will be taken forward to discussions with the government on the new action plan. For each of the themes, we've identified a volunteer to help steward its development. The themes and leads are: - Anti-corruption >> <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Qg-6KRzVsvK7vsOmiJh44Cx1gcUroXR3ppOrmNT-ksM/edit> - Rachel Davies - Budgets >> <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TNyH6zoTG6g04xjpoiljVp7xQGfBLZyrMcGglxA_T9M/edit> - Claire Schouten - Contracting >> <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aCapMnRELLIhCOy-zHvSVWOfU9V8aUKtC9RN_C-9yKg/edit> - Tim Davies - Data >> <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n4-eW34QzcxZw58r7xE5X0nA8B1UAGDB-E9itx63e50/edit> - Ellen Broad & Emeafa Doe - Evidence >> <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lUiFSxY8dnjYBfDTfecZXggpWof7Tg1-nwnjlbIGjNo/edit> - Prateek Buch - Information >> <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TvvssKcNb8rWkxcJSMudkM5lP8lSIZGeGJhoO-CtiO4/edit> - tbc - Local >> <https://docs.google.com/document/d/15HO3oIzDOsnu8_LzBCGE5MTty4CfUa2JZ5BHzs7GSi4/edit> - Josephine Suherman-Bailey & Sarah Allan - Parliament >> <https://docs.google.com/document/d/12ycg1tJdgdV30MPAWRZI83g4iRT0UnPlL5Z3ederPyU/edit> - Andy Williamson - Participation >> <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Z0NWv7KT2mQNwZcONiPv7glfmJd0auzzTEqihXZbbo0/edit> - Michelle Brook - Privacy >> <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bA4QpydDlwaLQzg1qfb_tTGifrnnbjZ9qwIZM8zlY_8/edit> - Javier Ruiz In each of the Google Docs linked above you will find templates for the commitments and the ideas submitted through the Open Government Manifesto process. These documents are open for anyone to contribute to. Each group working on a theme will need to: - Review the existing commitment ideas proposed through the Open Government Manifesto and identify key elements of these to draw upon; - Draft between one and three commitments that should be put forward by civil society for inclusion in the next UK OGP National Action Plan. Some of the ideas may, with a few tweaks, already be strong enough to form a commitment. Others will need combining with overlapping ideas. Some will not be strong enough to become a commitment, but please consider whether aspects of them can be used elsewhere (e.g. as actions under other commitments). The notes from the theming workshop last week may help you to decide how to approach an idea: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XfyhidpmcMCcOcxHdWezUOm_-ZJtEE-6OOKWrLqTDIY/edit?usp=sharing The deadline for developing of the commitments under each of the themes is the end of August. We’ll be setting up a meeting of the network in early September to do a final review of the themes and finalise the manifesto. I am heading off on holiday this evening, so am now handing over to my colleague Josephine to guide the process for the next couple of weeks. Thanks, Tim Too many emails?
