Don't worry. Newtons are always hard to start when you first get one in the
mail. I think it's like getting a new Kitten or something. They don't move
much until they become acclimatized. The Newton faq explains how to revive
it. Try holding the reset button down for about 20 seconds (with batteries
in or the AC adapter in).
The faq can be seen here (for one place anyway).
Good luck, your Newton will likely spring to life. E-mail me if you have
further problems.

Am I screwed? I suppose there's always SafeHarbour on eBay. I emailed
the seller, but since she didn't respond to an email asking about the
shipping of the Newton, I won't be surprised if I don't hear back from
her.
Am I just doing something obviously wrong?
TIA,
Donald
