Chris, the spectograms I can find of the Red-headed Woodpecker call seem to
have a couple layers of harmonics, whereas this just has the one line--perhaps
because the bird was at a distance from the mic it didn't catch it all? I'm
intrigued by this possibility...not least because these are pretty scarce
around here and if I can document their migration that would be cool--as well
as a nice addition to the yard list :-)

Rob,

This sounds like a call that is within the realm of variation for the night
flight call of Red-headed Woodpecker. At least, that's my first impression.
Thoughts?

Sincerely,
Chris T-H

Here's a call I got a couple nights ago. Got another one last night. Would
love input on this one. It sort of looks like SWTH spectograms, but doesn't
sound like it at all. Ends with a nice burriness.
