Ok, perhaps I should start with nfsen then and just get a better overview?

  apt-cache search nfsen

returned nothing, does this mean it's not in the debian repos so I need
to install from source?

  nfcapd -V
nfcapd: Version: 1.5.7 $LastChangedDate: 2008-02-21 10:50:02 +0100 (Thu,
21 Feb 2008) $

That's the version of nfcapd in the repo, do I need to reinstall that
from source as well? Am I wasting time with that version?
