Ashwadha,
You can try the following on XP.
1. Open Command Prompt
2. Type "*diskpart*"
3. Next type "*list volume*"
4. Now, Select the drive number to hide.
Then type "*select volume 3*"
5. Now type "*remove letter E*" . E represents the drive letter.
*******Data Remains Safe. Hope this requires a Reboot.
Now, if you want to make it *visible* then
follow steps till 4 and 5th step will be "*assign letter E*"
