I would rather suggest you to go through the Feature Descriptive Documents of an Threat Management Product which would give you more clarity.
As per your msg, > Yes sir but according to my point of view it just acts as a powerfull > firewall.................is it correct sir.......... The UTM is not only a Powerfull Firewall but I say it's exactly an Advanced Firewall because Basic Firewall, Cyber Defense Engine and IPS/ IDS are included. >....and as usual the IDS and > IPS are used to update the firewall, so instead of using the security levels > seperatley they have introduced this tool........ For your Information Firewall is an different Module and IDS/IPS is an Different Module. So, conclusion is that IPS are not used to update the Firewall. Inorder to understand this clearly, please go through the UTM Architecture. The Architecture in brief is designed as the Packet which is entering into UTM first goes to Firewall/Cyber Defese Engine and then the filtered Packet will undergo through IPS/IDS and further gets filetred by Pattern Matching. @ Hope you got it..... The Design / Architecture is INNOVATIVE.
