FYI MS also has extended this feature to include some governance related mechanisms with respect to federal, security, legal and other regulations in its latest edition of MS Office (2010). Whenever you open any file, it will also check for type of content, errors if any and report it to MS based on your response. I also have evidenced that it is sending files as well whenever it senses the files as inappropriate or holding sensitive information pertaining to nation or government or user details/passwords etc, be it has got an error or not... So please be careful.
New generation softwares demanding more information on users or their systems which inturn helps them to come up with their own business strategies or etc. But if they fail to provide security to those sensitive private information, who is held responsible? the person (user) who gave the details to companies during registration /etc? So be careful. The IT system or software which you are buying can spy on you or can monitor/analyse your interests or can publish your current address/location back to their servers or it also can be mis-utilized.
