Hi, The sitemap.xml you found may contain the list of paths arranged in the website.
You can visualise it as the single file for easily exploring the website. All categorisation of pages can be understood by reading sitemap.xml Hackers Terminology: "To easily crawl the website, just parse the sitemap.xml" I believe you scanned using a tool and its showing the list of directories available, which represents only information leakage of some kind. If you really want to penetrate the server, look at the sensitive directories....
