what do we need to detect here?
if i want to share sub-filesystems, i tell it to the nfs server 
daemon/kernel-module (whatever is in solaris to handle that). that should not 
be a standard behaviour, though.

you are telling a server reboots because somebody cd`s to a subdir?

i think i didn`t get the point of what you tried to explain. sorry about that, 
but it seems you have some deeper insight into how nfs works under the hood. i 
just see it from a user point of view. i just want it to work and want access 
to the data :)
